Second floor studio apartment located in downtown Juneau. Built in 1925, the MacKinnon Apartment Building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This studio apartment on the second floor features a full bed and pullout twin sleeper. The MacKinnon Building is located just a few blocks from all of Juneau's downtown shops, restaurants, craft breweries and distillery, the city museum, the Capitol building, and trail heads for several excellent hiking trails. The building is a short walk to the tram, seaplane base, marinas, the state museum, the governor's mansion, and tour pickup points.
The building underwent structural renovations in 2000. For a number of years after that the building was used for low income housing, but it has not been used in that capacity for a number of years. The current owners bought the building two years and have extensively remodeled. Many of the current tenants work in the nearby State Capitol building.
A coin operated laundry is available in the building. On street parking only. The convenient downtown location makes the hassle of renting a car unnecessary.
