Incredibly Central London Flat By Tate Modern With Wifi
Spacious, light-filled, one-bedroom Victorian flat in the heart of London. Only a 15-minute walk to the famous Tate Modern, Borough Market, Shakespeare's Globe and the cultural Southbank Centre. Excellent transport links. Great for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers and people with an eye for a quirky, cosy flat. I'm a writer and I have a lot of books so hope you like that too!
Welcome to Hunter House! The bedroom is light-filled with a dual North/East aspect and views of the impressive Shard building. The bed is double and comes with a great mattress offering a good night's sleep. The kitchen is fully equipped with gas cooker, washing machine and fridge. The sitting room is spacious with a futon/couch and Sky cable TV. I have central heating throughout the apartment. There is a large bath in the bathroom for extra relaxing times. We're on the top (4th) floor and the building was built in 1899 so there's no lift. But unlike a modern, sterile flat, you will feel really at "home" here.
Queen Victoria was still alive when this block of red brick flats was built in 1899 (she died two years later). It was built for the respectable working classes of the time- when working classes were thought worthy of small design flourishes such wrought iron and simple bas reliefs on the facade of the building. She is a handsome old lady and she’s tough. Hunter House is one of the few buildings in the area to have survived the bombings of the Blitz during the Second World War. Long may she live!
